Evil Eye

As we walked into the parking lot of our home of 2 days we encountered an impromptu marketplace. The dancers from the previous night had spread blankets of jewelry and sparkly items in a large, neat circle. A net to catch us. And it did. While perusing the different blankets I came upon this mother and child and was taken … More Evil Eye

Morning After

The morning after the dance we found the performers had stayed nearby, likely in tents on the property out front. We were in a very secluded, rural part of India where pitching a tent or unrolling a blanket for sleep did not seem odd. In fact, the longer I was in India the more nothing really seemed out … More Morning After

Someday

This little girl was so poised and so centered as she watched her sisters and mother along with other girls and women dance. It was difficult for me to keep my attention on the dancers with this little being of light close by.

In the Wild

As we bumped our way along the scrubby desert terrain,we were treated to some of the protected wildlife in Dasada. We encountered bleached white laughing pelicans, flamingos in solitary contemplation and boisterous at happy hour. There were deer who seemed to know we were no threat, nodding, waving and sauntering along. There were four-legged moosedeerwildabeast type things … More In the Wild

Safari

From our “hut” accommodations we hopped in open jeeps and rode for over an hour to a nature preserve to see mostly wild birds. Also in residence were deer, wild asses and some other sort of large four-legged thing I have yet to identify. When we left Rann Riders it was hot. Those of us … More Safari
