Long Island, Bahamas. While in search of straw hats on this relatively remote island in the Bahamas we stumbled upon this relic. Like so many other buildings on this island, this one was damaged beyond repair during a hurricane most of us in the US never really heard about. The damage to this particular island was extensive. The wind had its way, of course, but the flooding did the most damage and drove more people from their homes seeking higher ground. But these Bahamians are resilient and work together. No one died and very few were injured. Neighbors checked on neighbors and took care of one another. Such lovely people.
I converted the photo to black and white too, to give it more of an eerie feel. I like them both. Which do you prefer?
